My friend Andrea and I set out with the kids today for a wonderful morning of apple picking. Wouldn't you know it, of course we ended up driving right into bumper to bumper traffic while heading out east to where all the farms and orchards are. It's Columbus Day today, so all the kiddies were out of school. In addition, it was a gorgeous and quite unseasonably warm 85 degree day. That meant it seemed as EVERYONE on Long Island was heading out east this morning!!!
Needless to say, we never quite made it to the original destination that we had planned, however we did find a small yet lovely farm that had plenty for the kids to do. We stopped in at May's Farm, where they had a big corn maze, pony rides, pumpkin picking right from the patch, many halloween decorations for the house, and a sizeable farm stand filled with lots of fresh, locally grown fruits and veggies. We finished off our morning with lunch, and then headed back home so I could get to one of my neverending doctor appointments.
