Just when we thought we were on the mend around here....
I took the boys to the zoo yesterday morning for a few hours. We came home and we were hanging out in the front yard for a little while so they could stretch their legs. Tristan looked a little mopey, so I asked him why he was sad. He said his belly hurt. He gets quite constipated, and had been "working on one" for at least a day, so we didn't think much of his answer. We went inside and he asked for the bean bag. He usually only asks for it when he is tired or not feeling well. The boys had not really napped except for on the way home from the zoo in the car, so we figured he was just tired.
I left the boys with Stu, and went over to Target around 3:30. I had not been there for more than 30 minutes when Stu called to say that the ambulance was on its way over to the house again! Tristan had ANOTHER febrile seizure like the one he had back in January...but this one happened while he was awake. Stu knew to call 911 immediately, and also called the next door neighbor, as well as his brother to come over. I rushed home in time to ride in the ambulance with Tristan, and Stu followed behind us in the car.
At the hospital, Tristan's temperature was 105.7 and still climbing slowly on the thermometer, but he was flailing too much, so they took the thermometer out. They had us strip him down to his diaper for the duration, and gave him Tylenol and Motrin. This time around they ran a whole battery of tests on him...6 vials of blood, they cathed him to get urine, and they did a chest x-ray. They even brought doctors in from the surgery dept. to check and see if maybe his surgical site was infected. We really didn't get many if any answers from any of these tests.
We finally got home about 10:30pm. He woke up with a temperature this morning, but it has been under control all day with Tylenol and Motrin. We even were able to participate in the March of Dimes: WalkAmerica today as planned, where we walked 6 miles in honor of the boys. Tomorrow we have an appointment with the Pediatrician, so hopefully we can discuss everything further.
